The successful completion and the gradual commissioning of the new IRIS Research Building in late 2020 have been a highlight. The Research Building is dedicated to the research area Hybrid Systems for Optics and Electronics and it improves significantly IRIS Adlershof’s lab facilities and scientific infrastructure:
Humboldt Research Fellow Carlos-Andres Palma shows, why and how he explores nanographene materials and their phonon properties at IRIS Adlershof:
In September 2020 the mathematical physicist Nichol Furey (U Cambridge), joined IRIS Adlershof as a Freigeist fellow of the Volkswagen Foundation, to study a special number system, the octaves. She would like to prove that the behavior of elementary particles can be predicted using this system:
As an example of successful work with young talents, we present the Research Training Group 2575 Rethinking Quantum Field Theory:
IRIS Adlershof is connecting with many other disciplines such as architecture, art history, psychology, neuroscience, and cultural science. A particular project is the Cube of Physics and its recent extension, the Hypercube of Physics:

Wispers of String Theory
An international meeting of physicists working in the most challenging and abstract field. A good sports commentator can turn you into a fan, likewise we are drawn into this secluded world by the right people: scientists telling about their colleagues- brave, intimate, direct... in whispers.
